The project
About Mizan.
Mizan (الميزان) means the scale, the balance. The Qur'an names it as the instrument by which justice is weighed (55:7-9, 57:25). The project takes the name because that is exactly what it does: it puts the systems that run the modern world on a scale and states the verdict.
What this is
The modern order has failed. The alternative already exists.
Mizan argues that the Islamic order is the answer the modern world needs, and it sets out to prove that claim in public, one domain at a time: the economic system, the political system, the judicial system, the corporation, the stock market. For each domain it publishes a critique that weighs the modern system against the standard and states the verdict, a blueprint of the Islamic replacement, designed and costed and open to correction, and the passage from the one to the other. Not a reform of the modern order. Not an Islamic label on modern policy. A replacement.
The standard itself is the mizan: a scale applied to every claim a modern system makes for itself, drawn from the Qur'an, the authentic Sunnah, and the practice of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, with modern evidence used only where it independently agrees. For taxation and money it is the tradition's own law of lawful taking, twelve rules under three headings, restated from the jurists' books rather than invented here. Every domain is weighed on the same scale, which is why the project carries its name.
The economic system is domain one, and taxation and money is its first part, published in full in three books: Book One, the critique; Book Two, the blueprint; Book Three, the transition from the one to the other. The political system, the judicial system, the corporation, and the stock market follow through the same method.
The posture
Neutral in identity, direct in judgment, humble in stance.
Mizan is published under a neutral project identity, not a personal brand. The work is offered in good faith and held loosely. It states its conclusions plainly and without diplomatic cushioning, and it invites correction with reference from anyone who knows better.
Two commitments sit together and neither is dropped. The work is direct: it names a problem plainly and states its verdict without diplomatic cushioning. And the work is exact: every hard claim is verified at its source and tested by an adversary before it is published. Force without accuracy is a rant and gets dismissed. Accuracy without force is the timid version this project rejects. It ships both.
At the same time the conclusions are held loosely. What is published is offered in good faith, not as dogma, and the correction channel is a real invitation, not a courtesy.
The theory of change
Credibility first, then an audience, then a coalition.
The obstacle is not that people love the systems they live under. The obstacle is the belief that there is no alternative. So the order of work is deliberate. Credibility is built by publishing rigorous, vetted work. That credibility earns an audience. And the audience makes possible a coalition of scholars, economists, lawyers, and accountants who can turn a sound argument into change.
The argument is the groundwork. The coalition is the lever. Both are needed, and the second is why the standard of the first has to be this high.
